Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship

The Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship program, launched in 2018, provides opportunities to students who want to build their talents and change the world—particularly those from diverse backgrounds and communities historically underrepresented in STEM fields. Since its inception, the Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship has invested over $25 million and impacted nearly 1000 students.

With $10,000 awards, renewable each year, the Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship helps students like Kalista pursue their goals in STEM. A second-year student at Iowa State, Kalista says this scholarship is motivating her to pursue engineering even though she’s often the only woman in the room.

“It can be discouraging,” she said. “However, knowing that Lockheed Martin wholeheartedly supports me in my pursuit of engineering education is a wonderful feeling, and one that I carry with me even when I get discouraged.”

The Lockheed Martin STEM Scholarship program will add up to 100 new recipients this year and is open to individuals studying engineering or computer science that demonstrate financial need and come from underrepresented or underserved communities.

Competitive applicants will have strong academic backgrounds, a portfolio of extracurricular activities, and a passion for a career in a STEM related field.

For those looking at career options after graduation, scholarship recipients can opt-in to be contacted by Lockheed Martin recruitment teams regarding possible internship opportunities. All interested candidates and scholars must apply through the Lockheed Martin careers site to be considered for an internship.

Lockheed Martin Vocational Scholarship

Technical skills are a vital part of a robust American economy; to help ensure the next generation of skilled workers, Lockheed Martin is proud to sponsor the Lockheed Martin Vocational Scholarship Program, which was established in 2020 and has provided more than $3 million to over 500 students pursuing associate degrees, credit-bearing certificates, or industry certifications.

The Lockheed Martin Vocational Scholarship has helped students like Charles, whose lifelong interest in engineering is turning into a career as a result. “The Vocational Scholarship paid for my final two semesters,” after he lost his primary source of income during the COVID-19 pandemic, he said. “It helped me afford all of the necessary books and equipment, and also provided me a cushion to help with living and transportation expenses.” What’s more, after receiving his scholarship, Charles also applied for a job with Lockheed Martin, where he now works as an engineering aide.

This year’s program will provide up to 150 awards to students like Charles, for a maximum of $5,000 each. Scholarships will be awarded to students in a wide variety of eligible fields; see the Lockheed Martin Vocational Scholarship website for detailed fields of study.

To apply, students must be a high school graduate (or GED equivalent), a high school senior graduating in 2024, or a current undergraduate student with less than a bachelor’s degree. Applicants must beU.S. citizens and be enrolled or planning to enroll part-time or full-time in one of the specified fields of study at an accredited community or technical college. Finally, applicants must be pursuing an associate degree, credit-bearing certificate, or industry certification in one of the specified fields of study.

With the Lockheed Martin Vocational Scholarship, the path to a skilled, fulfilling career can be even more affordable than you think!
